This explains what personal data Radar Gauge (Tim Fernando, sole trader) collects, why, and who processes it. Questions: radargauge@timfernando.com.
What I collect
- Waitlist: your email address and, optionally, first name.
- Orders: your name, email and shipping address, and payment details (handled by Stripe — I never see your full card number).
- Personalisation: an optional display name for your device, and an optional approximate location (a coarse ~½ km geohash, not a precise address) used to pre-centre your device's radar.
Where your data lives
I keep customer and order data with Stripe rather than in my own database. Your order, address and the personalisation details are held on your Stripe payment record. The processors I use are:
- Stripe — payments and the order/customer record.
- Resend — the waitlist and order/shipping emails.
- Notion — the device build record: unit status, the device id, the on-device display name you chose, and a link to the Stripe payment. It does not hold your email or shipping address.
- Vercel — website hosting.
Some of these may process data outside the UK under appropriate safeguards.
Your preset location is deleted after setup
If you choose to preset your device's location, that location is used only to set up your device. It is held as a coarse geohash on your Stripe order record and is deleted once your unit has shipped. It is never used for marketing, never shared, and never stored anywhere else.
Why I use your data (lawful bases)
- Waitlist emails: your consent (withdraw any time via the unsubscribe link).
- Fulfilling your order: performance of our contract.
- Order-related emails (receipt, personalisation, shipping): performance of our contract.
Retention
Order records are kept as long as needed for the sale, support and legal/accounting obligations. The preset location is deleted once your unit has shipped (see above). You can unsubscribe from the waitlist at any time.
Your rights
You have rights to access, correct, delete or restrict use of your personal data, and to complain to the ICO (ico.org.uk). To exercise any of these, email radargauge@timfernando.com.
